Preparing for Treatment

ABES suggest the following steps to prepare for your pest control agent's arrival in the treatment of fleas, bed bugs, roaches, or ants.

Ants

• Move small items and storage away from walls.
• Move items away from back countertop area to the front or place elsewhere and cover with cloth or plastic.
• Clear items from window sills.
• Clean (sweep and wet mop) all floors, window sills and counter tops, especially edges.
• Keep children and pets away until treatment is dry to touch (approx 30 min. to 1hr).
• Do not clean edges (floor & countertop) for several days, weeks or as long as possible.
• Residuals can be effective for 60-90 days+ if not cleaned away or overexposed to weather.

Occupant/ tenant will need to vacate 2-4 hrs following application.

Contact Physician if a medical condition exists such as: allergies, asthma, pregnancy, heart trouble, emphysema, etc

What to expect after treatment: ant activity will gradually diminish after a few days, and will take 2-3 weeks to eliminate totally. Do not "wet" clean floor or countertop edges, if possible, as to not remove residuals. Products can be effective for 2-3 months. 

Fleas

• Remove and wash all bedding including comforters. Store  items in trash bags until after treatment.
• Remove items from the carpeted floors, under the bed and inside the closets, such as toys, shoes, boxes, paper, etc. You may place items on top of beds (not couches or chairs) that have been stripped, or place items on or under kitchen table, or center area of hard floors. On vinyl, concrete, or wood flooring you only need to move items to the center of the room.
• Vacuum all floors (carpets, vinyl, concrete and wood), including under appliances, under and behind couches and chairs, plus on & under their cushions. After vacuuming, put the vacuum bag in a sealed trash bag and place in the dumpster.
• Protect your fish tank. Shut off the pump and cover with a sheet.
• Please do not have your carpets steam cleaned after treatment. It will wash the product away. The product will last 60-90 days.

* Occupant/tenant/Pets will need to vacate their home or apartment 3-4 hrs following application, or until product is completely dry.

What to expect after treatment: The fleas will be agitated after treatment and will seem worse for some of you before it starts to improve. Flea activity will gradually reduce and cease 15 – 25 days after treatment. A 1/2 cost follow up is available between 25 and 90 days after initial application. DO NOT STEAM CLEAN FOLLOWING A TREATMENT/ ONLY 1-2 DAYS PRIOR TO A SERVICE, IF DESIRED.

Roaches

• Same as ant prep, and also; Clear contents out of kitchen and bathroom sink cabinets, plus remove top drawers of cabinets, dressers, night stands, coffee tables, end tables, then cover contents below with cloth or plastic.
•  Keep children and pets away during application & until treatment dry to touch (approx 30 min. to 1hr.)

What to expect after treatment: allow 2-3 weeks for elimination. Products are normally effective for up to 2-3 months. A 1/2 cost follow up service is available between 25 and 90 days following initial application. Also complete exterior and/or interior maintenence services are available at reduced costs for up to quarterly intervals, which will provide protection against roaches and other general household pests. Do not edge clean materials (liquid residuals, or baits in cracks & crevices) for up to 2-3 months following a service.

Spiders

• Move small items and storage away from walls.
• Move storage (except heavy bookcases, shelves and entertainment centers) approx 18 to 24 inches away from perimeter wall areas on all floor levels and garage.
• Dressers and beds may be left in place if contents (toys, clothing, storage) are removed from beneath.
• Clean (sweep, mop, vacuum) along walls.
• If you have a fish tank you will need to shut off pump and cover tank.
• Keep children and pets away during & until treatment is dry to touch (approx 30 min. to 1hr.)
• Do not clean edges (floor & countertop) for several days or weeks following service, if possible.

Occupant/tenant will need to vacate 2-4 hrs or until product is dry to touch.

If anyone in home or apartment has a medical condition such as allergies, asthma, emphysema, or pregnancy, consult your physician for evacuation time.

What to expect after treatment: Spider activity will diminish after the first few days. Total control will be achieved in 3-4 weeks. Products are effective for a 2-3 month + period. A no cost follow up service is available between 30 and 90 days for interior areas where "live activity" is seen, and no carcasses are found. General pest maintenance services are available at reduced costs for interior and/or exterior treatments to prevent & control new activity.

After treatment, all residents and pets will need to remain out of their apartment or home for 2-3 hours or until product is completely dry.

Please do not have your carpets steam cleaned after treatment, only at least 2-3 days prior a treatment, if desired.
